Great cover on this May 1966 edition of Rave – the month and year of my birth ….. not relevant I know … well not relevant to you, fairly important to me. Formed in 1963 the band is known for starting the careers of three of rock’s most famous guitarists, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck.

Formed in LA in 1964 … not to be confused with The Birds who formed in London in 1964.

Not sure of the year of publication but it’s got 2′ 6 on the cover so it wasn’t last week. Hendrix played a bit of guitar apparently.

Zigzag cover from 1977 featuring The Slits – according to Wikipedia The Slits were formed in 1976 by members of the groups The Flowers of Romance and The Castrators – an interesting juxtaposition of band names. One of the band used to go to the same hairdresser as my daughter … not very punk but there you go. 18 x 14

Excellent cover from 1986 featuring the legend that is Miles Davis. I had this on my wall for several minutes hoping to absorb some coolness by osmosis … didn’t work … but hey, maybe it will for you … not that you need it … never mind.

Zigzag cover from 1978 featuring Debbie Harry. Not sure why they went for the zebra motif – never saw her as prey animal. Also, I don’t think that the camouflage will work .. unless you plan on hanging it up in the open veldt.

Cover featuring The Police from 1980. They had many smash hits … not sure what differentiates a hit from a smash hit .. maybe there’s a line in the sales numbers that you must cross .. don’t know how that works these days with downloads and all .. rambling a bit now.

Fantastic NME cover from July 1980 – Dury and Wilko. I love this cover …. hence framing it and trying to sell it to you. Two legends of the era from two great bands …. although this picture was from 1980 by which time Wilko had left/been kicked out of Dr Feelgood and was now playing with the Blockheads. 20 x 16 frame

Framed magazine cover from 1959 – wonderful image of Louis Armstrong – if this doesn’t cheer you up, even a little bit, you may need to consider the fact that you’re ever so slightly dead inside …. no offence. You don’t need to be a jazz fan to own this but it helps – I may have plagiarized that from a very humorous sign some folk had at their place of work about being mad to work here … you know the one .. oh how we laughed. Anyhoo, this is a very cool thing to have on your wall. 20 x 16 inch frame.

I have a number of vintage magazine covers from various music publications – a few more examples can be seen below – let me know what you’re interested in and if I don’t have something to tickle your fancy I will endeavour to find it. Most items are from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s but I do dabble in other decades so please enquire. Just to emphasise, these are music magazines – I don’t do Soldier of Fortune, Country Life or anything naughty …. apart from a Millie Jackson cover of Black Music magazine that may, in some circles, be considered a touch fruity. I put these in a black frame with a mount – either 20 x 16 inches or 18 x 14 inches – moulding is 2cm wide x 1.5cm deep. Prices vary slightly but will be close to £45 – 65
