Framed Vintage Magazine covers

Black Music Cover – Millie Jackson

The awesome Millie Jackson removing the last crumb of a rather delicious lunch she has just enjoyed. Fantastic magazine cover from 1978. If loving this picture is wrong, I don’t want to be right. 20 x 16 frame.

£52.00

Zigzag Cover – The Slits

Zigzag cover from 1977 featuring The Slits – according to Wikipedia The Slits were formed in 1976 by members of the groups The Flowers of Romance and The Castrators – an interesting juxtaposition of band names. One of the band used to go to the same hairdresser as my daughter … not very punk but there you go. 18 x 14

£55.00

NME Cover – John Peel

1979 NME cover featuring the legend that is John Peel. My word this looks good on a wall. 20 x 16 inch frame.

£49.00

Rave Cover – Mick Jagger

1964 Rave magazine cover featuring Mick Jagger looking …… what’s the word …. swoony … no … doe-eyed ………. well anyway, it’s got Mick Jagger on it. 18 x 14 frame.

£65.00

Acid Rock Cover – Frank Zappa

Brilliant magazine cover from 1978 starring Frank Zappa and co-starring Frank Zappa’s pubes. Entertaining piece of wall art .. I was going to say ‘but not for your Grandma’ but seeing as this is 40 years old this may be perfect … imagine your Grandma being into Zappa. 20 x 16 inch frame. I’ve got the rest of the magazine if you want me to include that.

£51.00

Wire Cover – Miles Davis

Excellent cover from 1986 featuring the legend that is Miles Davis. I had this on my wall for several minutes hoping to absorb some coolness by osmosis … didn’t work … but hey, maybe it will for you … not that you need it … never mind.

£51.00

Zigzag Cover – Debbie Harry

Zigzag cover from 1978 featuring Debbie Harry. Not sure why they went for the zebra motif – never saw her as prey animal. Also, I don’t think that the camouflage will work .. unless you plan on hanging it up in the open veldt.

£55.00

Country Magazine Cover – Johnny Cash

Fantastic Johnny Cash cover from 1972.

£49.00

Smash Hits – The Police

Cover featuring The Police from 1980. They had many smash hits … not sure what differentiates a hit from a smash hit .. maybe there’s a line in the sales numbers that you must cross .. don’t know how that works these days with downloads and all .. rambling a bit now.

£50.00

NME Cover – Dury and Wilko

Fantastic NME cover from July 1980 – Dury and Wilko. I love this cover …. hence framing it and trying to sell it to you. Two legends of the era from two great bands …. although this picture was from 1980 by which time Wilko had left/been kicked out of Dr Feelgood and was now playing with the Blockheads. 20 x 16 frame

£49.00

Jazz Journal Cover – Louis Armstrong

Framed magazine cover from 1959 – wonderful image of Louis Armstrong – if this doesn’t cheer you up, even a little bit, you may need to consider the fact that you’re ever so slightly dead inside …. no offence. You don’t need to be a jazz fan to own this but it helps – I may have plagiarized that from a very humorous sign some folk had at their place of work about being mad to work here … you know the one .. oh how we laughed. Anyhoo, this is a very cool thing to have on your wall. 20 x 16 inch frame.

£48.00

Various

I have a number of vintage magazine covers from various music publications – a few more examples can be seen below – let me know what you’re interested in and if I don’t have something to tickle your fancy I will endeavour to find it. Most items are from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s but I do dabble in other decades so please enquire. Just to emphasise, these are music magazines – I don’t do Soldier of Fortune, Country Life or anything naughty …. apart from a Millie Jackson cover of Black Music magazine that may, in some circles, be considered a touch fruity. I put these in a black frame with a mount – either 20 x 16 inches or 18 x 14 inches – moulding is 2cm wide x 1.5cm deep. Prices vary slightly but will be close to £45 – 65

Framed Vintage Sheet Music.

Bobbie Gentry – Ode To Billy Joe

The brilliant Bobbie Gentry … not Nobbie as I almost put before realising my error – not sure what kind of stuff Nobbie Gentry would release but I’d certainly give it a listen. But no, this is the magnificent Bobbie and her iconic song Ode To Billie Joe – there have been lots of theories as to what was thrown off the Tallahatchie Bridge but I don’t think she ever confirmed or denied any … it’s a mystery wrapped inside an enigma tucked into the armpit of a puzzle. Frame is 20 x 16 inch

£52.00

Al Green – LOVE

The awesome Al Green. Great shot capturing him in mid awesomeness. Reverend. Doing his thing ….. or thang. Apparently, was tired of being alone. 20 x 16 inch frame.

£56.00

Manfred Mann – Hubble Bubble

Always thought they dropped a couple of levels when Paul Jones left – just an opinion. Their second theme for Ready, Steady, Go !

£60.00

Thelma Huston – Don’t Leave Me This Way

Great image of Thelma. First charting as a hit for Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes featuring Teddy Pendergrass in 1975, “Don’t Leave Me This Way” was later a huge disco hit for Motown artist Thelma Houston in 1977. The song was also a major hit for British group the Communards in 1986. Great gift for someone that left you that way … although why you would give this fantastic item to someone who left you .. maybe they left you in a good way … who knows. 20 x 16 inch frame.

£53.00

Cameo – Word Up

Funky beast. Yo pretty ladies around the world Got a weird thing to show you so tell all the boys and girls. Picture is sadly lacking the red codpiece but you can’t have everything. 20 x 16 inch frame …. not unlike the codpiece.

£52.00

The Who – My Generation

Anthem.

£55.00

The Tourists – I Only Want To Be With You

Framed sheet music from 1979 – the classic Tourists cover of Dusty Springfield’s ‘ I Only Want To Be You ‘. Lennox and Stewart went on to form The Eurythmics. I’m guessing that the wedding dress thing is related to the song title … unless it just happened to be what Annie turned up to the photo shoot in .. probably the former. 20 x 16 inch frame.

£53.00

Sly and the Family Stone – Dance To The Music

I love this. Great picture of a great band and one of their many great songs. Cynthia and Jerry got a message that’s sayin’, All the squares, go home! 20 x 16 frame

£52.00

Marsha Hunt – Keep The Customer Satisfied

Brilliant image of Marsha Hunt. Actress, novelist, singer and former model. Supposedly the inspiration for the Stones song ‘Brown Sugar’. 20 x 16 inch frame.

£53.00

Cozy Powell – Na Na Na

Legendary drummer Cozy Powell – what a great rock name … real name, Colin Trevor Flooks .. not such a great rock name. Played with all those rock type chaps including, The Jeff Beck Group, Rainbow, Gary Moore, Robert Plant, Brian May, Whitesnake, Emerson, Lake and Powell, and Black Sabbath. Na Na Na from 1974. 20 x 16 inch frame.

£55.00

Average White Band – Pick Up The Pieces

The awesome Pick up the Pieces – a funk beast. I realise that sometimes it can be difficult to pick out complex lyrics so I have kindly printed them here – it may take a while to learn but it’s worth it. ‘Pick up the pieces, uh, huh Pick up the pieces, alright Pick up the pieces, uh, huh Pick up the pieces, whoo! Whoo! Pick up the pieces Pick up the pieces Pick up the pieces, whoo Pick up the pieces, oow!’ 20 x 16 frame

£51.00

Blondie – Denis

Superb image of Debbie Harry – I’ve seen many images of Debbie Harry and I think this is one of the best …………. and when I say that I’ve seen many images of Debbie Harry, I mean published ones not ones from my fevered imagination or some creepy, stalkery, private collection. Frames are 20 x 16 inch

£56.00

Stevie Wonder – Sir Duke

Great picture of Stevie Wonder on the cover of the sheet music of the classic Sir Duke. Released in 1977 the song was written in tribute to Duke Ellington. 20 x 16 frame.

£48.00

Ultravox – Vienna

Framed sheet music of Ultravox’s classic track, Vienna ….. Oh Vienna …. da dum, da da da dum. The single became Ultravox’s biggest ever hit, released in January 1981 and peaking at Number 2 (kept off the top spot by John Lennon’s “Woman” and then Joe Dolce’s “Shaddap You Face”). Apparently, Midge Ure briefly played with Thin Lizzy … who’d’ve thunk it ? It’s a 20 x 16 inch frame.

£49.00

PP Arnold – Angel of the Morning

Wonderful cover. She was an Ikette you know. Only released two of her own albums but sang on hundreds.

£60.00

Suzi Quatro – Your Mama Won’t Like Me

Brilliant image of Suzi Q. Original sheet music from 1975 – the single from the album of the same name. Any guesses as to Suzi’s real name …… no ? ………. no-one ? ……. ok I’ll tell you …… Suzi Quatro …. what a great name and it’s all hers. I wonder if she still wears those tight leathers – I hope so …. I hope she’s wearing them when she’s 90 just for old times sake. It’s a 20 x 16 frame.

£56.00

Petr Kares

I’m afraid I’m not familiar with this piece of music, my knowledge of mid 40’s Eastern European swing not being what it might be. It is, however, a fantastic image. 20 x 16 frame.

£47.00

Aretha Franklin – The House That Jack Built

Great image of a great artist featuring a great song. I believe that the B side was ‘I say A Little Prayer’. Originally recorded by Thelma Jones and well worth listening to. The frame is 20 x 16 inch.

£60.00

Eartha Kitt – Just An Old Fashioned Girl

Beautiful picture of Eartha from her 1957 hit. Orson Welles once called her the “most exciting woman in the world”. She starred in 1967 as Catwoman, in the third and final season of the television series Batman. Is it too harsh to mention the rhyming slang thing …. ? probably. 20 x 16 frame

£49.00

Marianne Faithfull – As Tears Go By

Beautiful image – she recorded this Jagger/Richards song before The Stones did their version and was her first hit. Faithfull’s maternal great great uncle was Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, whose erotic novel, Venus in Furs, spawned the word “masochism” …. no, no real relevance but it was on Wikipedia so it’s bound to be true … unlike the Mars bar business which isn’t. 20 x 16 frame.

£60.00

Various

I have a large selection of vintage sheet music ready to be framed – just get in touch and I’ll see if I have what you’re after. If I don’t, I can try to source it for you then frame it in either a 20 x 16 or 18 x 14 black frame with a 2cm x 1.5cm moulding – in most cases I can either mount it just on the edge of the sheet or just set back, whichever you prefer. Prices will vary slightly depending on how much I have to pay to acquire it, assuming I don’t have it in stock, so the price below is an approximation. Get in touch and we’ll try to sort out what you need. Pictures below are a small sample of other options ready to frame but, in the words of lovable 70s comedian Jimmy Cricket, there’s more.

Framed Vintage Albums

All these framed records come with the vinyl although I can’t swear to the condition. As you will swiftly find out, these are not your classic framed album material – not on this site will you find four scousers on a zebra crossing or a large dirigible all ablaze, oh no – these are often cool, sometimes a bit kitsch, occasionally funny and some have the vaguest scent of cheese. All are several decades old and show signs of their age to varying degrees but it all adds to their charm.

Connie Francis – More Italian Favourites

1960 Connie Francis album – wonderful cover. Great wall art for your favourite vintage lover … or music lover … or Italian … or person that likes Italian things. I was going to write something funny in Italian but I don’t speak Italian so my plan fell to the ground.

£14.00

Russ Conway – At The Cinema

Fabulous Russ Conway cover. Cool and kitsch in equal measure. I’m quite sure one of the ladies is his sister … or he’s a Mormon … or maybe they’re just good chums. Whatever they are, they’re mighty pleased to be going to the pictures … no doubt going to see some cool European thing …maybe a Truffaut or Rossellini … probably not a Bunuel – they don’t look in the mood for one of his.

£14.00

Parliamo Italiano

Very cool cover. Don’t think that the hand gestures are on the record .. not sure how you’d do that which is a shame as I’m guessing they are an integral part of speaking Italian .. that’s not racist is it ? I don’t want to generalise .. I would think that every culture uses a multitude of … never mind .. cool image, good on a wall.

£14.00

Jim Reeves – Bimbo

So …. Bimbo … it’s called Bimbo …. I find this funny …. perhaps you just know a Jim Reeves fan … either way it’s a great gift. Did I mention it’s called Bimbo ?

£14.00

Harry Belafonte – An Evening With

Harry Belafonte – so cool you could keep fresh milk near him for days.

£14.00

The Ray Conniff Singers – Young At Heart

Wonderful image on this 1960 album. The singers were 12 women and 13 men – pretty sure the woman on the cover wasn’t one of them … certainly wasn’t one of the men anyway.

£14.00

Eartha Kitt – Thursday’s Child

The awesome Eartha Kitt – long before she, sadly, became rhyming slang.

£14.00

George Evans And His Symphony Of Saxes – Great For Dancing

Fantastic cover picture that looks great on a wall. I do, however, have one or two issues – firstly, I’m a bit disconcerted by the floating arm … is there a person on the other end or has she stuck a stuffed appendage on the wall for the purpose of practice ? Secondly and much more importantly, never leave records on the floor especially out of their sleeves – pure madness. Having said that, I am a fan of the sofa .. very nice.

£14.00

Billy Vaughn – Embraceable You

Classic 60’s cover – fantastic trippy image. For your own wall or as a gift for embraceable you .. or lovable you .. or squidgable you .. or other forms of you that I probably can’t write here .. or should that be ‘them’ .. embraceable them .. for you to keep for you or to give to them not you to give to you .. unless it’s for you and not them … but it’s a great Valentine present so probably for them .. but if you want to keep it then that’s up to you, I’m not here to tell you who you can or can’t give things to .. it’s your life.

£14.00

Henry Mancini – The Big Band Sound Of

The person on the cover is not Henry Mancini … having said that I haven’t actually checked what he looks like so … but I’m sure if this is him we’d have heard about it.

£14.00

Petula Clark – The International Hits

Fabulous cover on this 1965 album … even if you have no love for Petula you’ve got to love this cover ….. haven’t you ? Young Sally’s stage name of Petula was invented by her father, Leslie Clark; he joked it was a combination of the names of two former girlfriends, Pet and Ulla … not too sure how that went down with Mrs Clark. If you are a big Petula fan I have the framed sheet music of Downtown if you’re interested.

£14.00

Strings For Pleasure – The Best Of Bacharach

Burt Bacharach tunes … Burt Bacharach .. a name that sounds even better in a strong scouse accent. Apparently they thought the listening pleasure of this album would be enhanced by having an attractive lady on the cover – unless she’s a soloist on the record of course then it would be a bit more relevant.

£14.00

Engelbert Humperdink – Twelve Great songs

It’s the Hump ! … the Dink ! The dude with the sideburns from outer space ! It says 12 great songs plus Release Me … does that imply that Release Me isn’t a great song … if it doesn’t, shouldn’t it say 13 great songs including Release Me ? Am I thinking about this too much ?

£14.00

Raymond Leferve – 12 sides

Fantastically kitsch bit of wall art. Great gift for your many sided friends – I’m sure we all know at least one dodecagonaphrenic. Apparently young Ray has 12 sides although apart from Love God / maths teacher / King of personal grooming, I’m not sure what they all are. You will be thrilled to know that the record is included.

£14.00

Kamahl – If I Give My Heart To You

Record is included should you wish to get down with his smoothness – you don’t need to wear a similar jacket to enjoy this but it may help. Fantastic gift for the Love Machines out there.

£14.00

BBI – Concert Band Series ’74

Fantastic cover – don’t know much about this record other than it was released in 1974 – hence, I’m assuming, the ’74 in the title – but as Samuel L. Jackson said, to assume makes an ASS out of U and Me so perhaps it refers to something else …… can’t think of anything though ……………… nope must be 1974.

£14.00

Paul Mauriat – Bloomong Hits

Wonderful cover – 1967. Paul Mauriat – his back catalogue features over 1000 titles and has sold more than 40 million copies ………….. no, me neither. Still, great cover art.

£14.00

Favourite Western Themes

60 minutes of a person discussing contemporary and revisionist Western themes of revenge and retribution, the place of Native Americans in the genre and the struggles of the classic cowboy in the civilised world ……………… not really ….. groovy theme tunes is what it is.

£14.00

Bruno Leonardo Gelber – Piano Concerto No 1

Bruno Leonardo Gelber. A tremendously interesting looking individual and esteemed Argentine pianist. Apparently, he specialises in the Classical and Romantic repertory, but came late to Rachmaninoff, due to the stubbiness of his fingers. Good to know.

£14.00

Andy Stewart – Songs Of Scotland

Andy Sings Songs of Scotland – as opposed to his usual output of death metal. Lemmy and Bruce Dickinson often quote Andy as an inspiration … that might be untrue. Excellent gift for a Scottish person – you may not have picked up on the Scottish theme of this album but trust me, it’s there. In fact, all that’s missing is Kenny Dalglish eating haggis with a set of bagpipes.

£14.00

Radiohead – San Francisco 1998

Amazing Radiohead gig poster from 1998 – Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco. The OK Computer tour. Art by Michael Laurence and Michelle Casciolo. Poster is 11 x 19 inches. Frame is 18 x 24 inches. Please let me know if you need a closer view of it.
